Canine Physiotherapy

Canine Physiotherapy Benefits
Physiotherapy helps your dog in numerous ways, including:
- Pain and stiffness relief — First and foremost, I relieve aches, pain and stiffness associated with arthritis and the ageing process
- Improved mobility and suppleness — Additionally, I restore and maintain joint range, skeletal suppleness and muscle balance to maximise performance
- Enhanced athletic performance — Beyond basic health, I improve performance, prevent injury, and enhance mobility and suppleness
- Post-injury rehabilitation — When recovery is needed, I guide rehabilitation following injury and/or surgery to restore your dog back to full function
- Compensatory issue management — Furthermore, I address secondary problems that develop when dogs favor injured areas
- Biomechanical optimization — Ultimately, I improve movement patterns and muscle coordination for better overall efficiency
Canine Physiotherapy Treatment Pathways
I offer two distinct pathways for physiotherapy treatment, each designed to meet your dog’s specific needs:
- Maintenance Care — First, I provide the maintenance pathway for dogs who need ongoing support without veterinary intervention. This pathway suits dogs who benefit from regular physiotherapy to maintain their overall wellbeing, flexibility, and comfort. However, your dog must still be registered with a veterinary practice, as I maintain professional standards by informing your vet that I will be treating your dog. This ensures your vet stays informed about all aspects of your dog’s healthcare.
I typically recommend this pathway for ageing dogs, athletic dogs requiring performance maintenance, or dogs managing chronic conditions that don’t require active veterinary treatment. - Veterinary Referral — Alternatively, I work through the referral pathway when a veterinary surgeon directly refers your dog to me for specialised care. Vets commonly refer dogs for numerous reasons, including post-surgical rehabilitation, injury recovery, mobility issues, or chronic pain management. In these cases, I collaborate closely with your vet and any other healthcare professionals involved in your dog’s care. Together, we create a comprehensive treatment plan and monitor progress regularly to bring your dog back to full health.
I provide detailed reports to your vet throughout the treatment process, ensuring everyone works together toward your dog’s recovery goals.
Treatment
When I visit your premises, here’s what to expect on the initial visit. The assessment and treatment process normally takes around 1 hour 45 minutes.
The session follows a 4-step process that includes Assessment, Palpation and Movement, Treatment, and lastly Post Treatment & Follow Ups. To gain a more detailed understanding of the full process, I have produced a downloadable guide for you to read at your convenience.

Maintenance
Maintenance physiotherapy is designed to help maintain your animals health, mobility and function rather than treat a specific injury or condition. Veterinary intervention is not required.
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation physiotherapy works in conjunction with your vet and other parties involved with the care of your animal. It is focused on post rehabilitation care after injury/surgery or due to underlying condition.
